Hallicrafters SX-100 Communications Receiver Hallicrafters SX-100 Communications Receiver

Here is an early 1950s era Hallicrafters 14 tube SX-100 ham communications receiver.   This is an exceedingly well made and heavy unit.  Even by todays sytandards, these are very good receivers.  Many are still in use today.  The coverage range is from 550 kc to 30 mc.  A crystal calibrator is included internally.  This particular unit does operate electrically.  An amazing number of old Hallicrafters radios do.  That said, an explanation is in order: the sensitivity seems to be sort of OK but the volume is very low and there is noticable (although not overpowering) hum.  Reception was heard on all bands and the dials work fine but ancillary functions such as the BFO, etc. weren't tested extensively.  The unit should be restored electrically with new capacitors and some tubes too, I am sure but you have a lot to start with.  Asthetically, it needs help.  Painting the cabinet isn't real hard but the lower front panel which is aluminum with printing on it has lost much of the printed patterning.  I honestly don't know how that will be restored to its original appearance.  The knobs are good except for one that is missing its center metal trim insert. For more general Hallicrafters info, see Halligan's Hallicrafters website, http://www.H allicrafters.net .  Actual shipping is additional.  This item may be returned for a 7 day period for a full refund (LESS shipping costs ) provided it is returned in the condition which it was shipped.  I cannot be responsible for uninsured items.
